New Construction Electrician FAQs

What Does a New Construction Electrician Do?

A new construction electrician installs the electrical systems in a building while it is being built, including wiring, panels, lighting, and controls. The work usually starts from blueprints, follows the National Electrical Code and local building rules, and is coordinated with the other trades on the job. Hometown Electrical Services does this work for general contractors, owners, and developers across the Denver metro. Call (303) 335-7799 to talk through your project.

What Does an Electrical Subcontractor Do on a Construction Project?

An electrical subcontractor is hired to handle the electrical scope of a construction project, such as wiring, panels, and lighting, while other trades handle theirs. General contractors usually hire the subcontractor, and owners or developers sometimes do. Hometown Electrical Services works with general contractors, owners, and developers on new construction electrical work. Send your scope, and we will talk through what the project needs.

When Should a General Contractor Bring in a Construction Electrical Contractor?

Bring the electrical contractor in during planning or bidding, before rough-in starts, so the electrical scope, panel locations, and lighting layout line up with the other trades. Early input also helps with scheduling and inspection timing. Hometown Electrical Services works with general contractors, owners, and developers from electrical design through finish work.

What Should I Send to Get a New Construction Electrical Estimate?

Send the project address, building type, the plans or drawings if you have them, the electrical scope, and your target schedule. If the plans are not final, a short description of the project is enough to start the conversation. Call (303) 335-7799 or use the contact page to reach Hometown Electrical Services.

Do New Construction Electrical Projects Need Permits and Inspections?

In general, yes. Colorado requires a valid electrical permit before electrical wiring is installed, and the permit comes from the State Electrical Board or the local building department, depending on the project location. Requirements and inspection steps vary by jurisdiction and scope, so confirm them with the authority for your site. Hometown Electrical Services can talk through how permits and inspections fit your project schedule.
